Description
1969 Porsche 911S – Restoration Summary VIN: 119301389 The car was partially restored in 2012, and a comprehensive restoration began in 2020 on what many described as “the nicest classic 911 they had ever seen.” The process started with a complete disassembly of the vehicle, followed by high‑pressure, high‑temperature cleaning to remove all compromised material. The body was then soda‑blasted to bare metal, epoxy‑primed, and refinished in its original Irish Green using PPG paint. Minor underbody corrosion was repaired and recoated with Wurth undercoating, and the entire underside was finished in black. Remarkably, the car retains nearly all of its original metal—including the pan and both battery boxes. All removed metal components have been preserved. Suspension, Steering & Fuel System The suspension was sandblasted, powder‑coated, and rebuilt using OEM components. New Koni shocks were installed, the brakes and hubs were restored, and “turbo” tie‑rod ends were fitted. The steering rack was fully disassembled, resealed, new bushings installed, polished to a mirror finish, and reinstalled. The fuel tank was removed, cleaned, coated, and reinstalled. A correct fuel pump for Weber carburetors was fitted. The complete original mechanical fuel‑injection system—including both pumps, injectors, hard lines, air box, belts, and hoses—has been retained with the car. Engine & Transmission The engine was rebuilt in 2012 and has accumulated less than one hour of run time since. During the rebuild, the crankshaft and camshafts were polished, cylinders measured, and new bearings and rings installed. The cases were cleaned and reassembled with new stainless‑steel exhaust valves, a new engine oil cooler, new timing chains, chain tensioners, guides, and chain safeties. Updated camshaft covers and oilers were installed, with all original components preserved. The front engine oil‑cooler lines were inspected, cleaned, restored, and a new cooler was installed. The transmission received new seals and a new clutch pack during servicing. Interior & Trim The car retains most of its original, unrestored factory interior, including front and rear seats, door cards, knee pads, and dash—an exceptionally rare level of originality. Replacement parts, including the dash pad and headliner were sourced from Porsche when available, and carpet and trim were custom made and patterned after the original material sourced from German stock. All major hardware (nuts, bolts, washers) was restored to its original yellow‑zinc finish, visible for example on the rear engine‑mount headstamps. All latches were similarly restored and remain original. Marker lights were fully restored and fitted with NOS plastic lenses from the mid‑1980s. All original interior components have been retained. Originality & Configuration Choices The Kardex confirms the car retains its original engine and transmission. Date stamps on all five wheels confirm that the complete set of “heart” wheels is original to the car. While the restoration prioritized originality, several components were intentionally left off to honor the previous owner’s intention to use the car on track. These include the sun visors, rear‑view mirror, “S” rocker trim, wheel‑arch trim, and front bumperettes. All of these items are included with the car—some still new in their original packaging—but were not installed.
